Cylinder Head
70,000 miles, some of them probably quite hard work, I think it's a good time to replace the head
gasket, especially considering my plan with respect to turbo's. The car is driving fine with no problems,
I'm going to rip it apart anyway, an old saying "if it's not broke, don't fix it" definately does not apply here.
I've seen 1st hand the results of extended running with blown head gaskets and I'm taking no chances.
The mileage is not particularly high, but the LC engine does suffer from heat more than the C30SE, and
that together with age, ie 13 years, and not least of which, for a unknown period the ecu  been "chipped".

One of the first jobs was to drain down the coolant, to drain the charge cooler I blew some compressed
air into this pipe and..............

having already disconnected the pipe exiting the charge cooler pump, the anti-freeze drained nicely.

Following pictures are to help me remember how all the pipe work runs and connects.

Whist removing the turbo's I was amazed to note  that the extension casting on the turbo exit was missing
a stud and nut completely and the one hidden from view was loose ! I never heard any leaks at all, but
maybe if this was pulling air into the down pipe, it could explain a slightly odd Co reading during the mot
emissions test.
