- Thrust washer and journal bearing removal
- The thrust washer is a little assembly held in place with 3 torqx screws.
- Note the piston ring in the carrier.
The journal bearing simply slides out.
- I guess the bearing is coated with white metal, similar to what you would find on a crank bearing shell.
- You can see most of the metal has been worn away on the inside, revealing the brass underneath, at 17k miles I'm a little
- surprised, I'd not expect this to be worn out ??? I've seen some brass bearings with no coating at all, so not too sure what
- to make of these at the moment.
A circlip retains the other end of the journal bearing.
