Thrust washer and journal bearing removal
The thrust washer is a little assembly held in place with 3 torqx screws.
Note the piston ring in the carrier.

The journal bearing simply slides out.

I guess the bearing is coated with white metal, similar to what you would find on a crank bearing shell.
You can see most of the metal has been worn away on the inside, revealing the brass underneath, at 17k miles I'm a little
surprised, I'd not expect this to be worn out ??? I've seen some brass bearings with no coating at all, so not too sure what
to make of these at the moment.

A circlip retains the other end of the journal bearing.
