- Compressor wheel removal
- The nut had already been marked so that when tightened it can be put back exactly in the same place.
- This either eliminates the need for re-balance (I'd not recommend this) or makes re-balance easier.
You can also note the position of the blades of the turbine relative to the compressor wheel.
- Always undo the nut by applying counter torque to the turbine end, never be tempted to wrap
- rag around the turbine or compressor wheel and hold these whilst undoing the nut.
The nut is LEFT HAND THREADED !!!!!!......ie clockwise to undo this (for ref torque to 70-78 in/lb)
A gentle tap on the end of the shaft was required to slide it out. The compressor wheel is a real nice snug fit on the shaft.
Wheel removed.
Note that like the big compressor housing circlip, it only fits one way, with the bevel facing outwards
A little tricky, but the next part will pull out, it's centre fits over the piston ring......
......and the outer part clamps against an o-ring.
