Compressor housing removal
Remove the waste gate actuator, 2 m6 bolts and what ever retains the arm end to the waste gate arm.
I left the turbo bolted to the manifold as it was easier to handle whilst undoing some of the bolts that were
quite tight. I loosened the 4 bolts holding the turbine (exhaust ) housing before removing the compressor housing.

You should note the relative position (clocking) of the compressor housing to the CBH (central bearing housing), in this
case I know that these turbo's had been refurbished at 56,000miles already, these centre dots had already been made
previously and they alight with the centre of the oil inlet adaptor.

Clocking is very important for the refurb guys to get right, I've seen many turbo fitments where the compressor housing
is not clocked correctly and the outlet port does not align with the charge cooler inlet, the hose joiner gets distorted.
You might think simple case of slacken the circlip and reset, well yes, but the wastegate setting will then be disturbed
and these are not easy to reset without some equipment.

The compressor housing is kept in place with a large circlip.

I had to buy the circlip pliers especially for this job as the clip is very large and a series of broken tools and cut fingers help
persuade parting of money for this tool which really makes the job easy !

The brown stain on one of the blades is not damage, just some old paint put on by the manufacturer,
I think this is used as reference when balancing.

You would think that the machine tolerances were extreme, indeed they are, but there still needs to be some clearance
between the shaft and inner bearing diameters, and the housing and outer bearing diameters, so although the side play
may seem excessive, actually I think it is ok and that it centers when it spins. There must also be some allowance for
heat expansion...(another reason to allow the turbo's to warm up before mashing the pedal)

The play was not enough that the compressor
wheel touched the compressor housing (I have seen LC turbo's that have done so, and were still running without problem.

The compressor housing has been particle blasted, it's still very clean and totally undamaged.
