Oil Catch Tank
In the process of investigating the sump vacuum issue, I found that there is a lot of oil being dumped
onto the air filter which originates from the cam cover breather. There is supposed to be a filter within
the cam cover, but over time this disintegrates and no longer prevents oil being blown into the air box.
A lot of the oil vapour gets sucked straight into the inlet manifold off boost, on boost this vapour gets
pulled through the turbo's and pushed through the charge cooler, this is bad because
hot oil rich vapours lose engine power and can ultimately lead to pre-ignition.
Unfortunately emission standards dictate these fumes have to be burnt off in combustion / cats.
Some of the oil in the vapour condenses in the green filter. This was a clean air filter only a few hundred
miles ago, already there is oil which has dripped from the green filter in the air box lid and is being soaked
up by the filter paper.

My plan is to make a custom oil catch tank to take fumes from the cam cover, remove some of the oil
and pass the fumes on into the green filter device in the air box lid.

The only place available seems to be between the air box and from headlight.

A cardboard mock up to check for fit.

I think connections from cam cover to air box will work quite well.
