Front strut suspension washer failure                     

My washers came back from zinc plating today, laying them into the mount confirms 
there is absolutely no way that the design will allow any vertical flex though the steel tube
insert.

 

The distance from the underside of the washer to the tube insert measured 5.24mm, so
when tightening the shock nuts, this is the distance the tube has to travel to meet the 
washer.......the washer is going nowhere... 

 

Using a M10 bolt and some washers, I tightened the nut until the mount steel tube 
contacted the strut washer. The amount of force required to tighten the nut is is less that 
that you would use to tighten a M8 inlet manifold nut.

 

I will be using the replacement strut washer in its current format...........well perhaps not.....
