- Charge Cooler
- Despite much precaution taken whilst modifying the charge cooler to accept a hose to feed
- for the the blow off valve, aluminium swarf had stuck inside to the oily interior.
- I now needed to clean the whole cooler insides.
- After blocking off the inlet and outlets, I used 4 litres of white spirit to flush out the swarf and oil contamination.
- After each flush I strained the white spirit through cloth to remove any particles, in all I had to repeat the
- cycle about 12 times before I was satisfied all was clear.
- I wonder just how much oil was really removed, going by the colour of the white spirit, perhaps quite a lot.
Nice and clean now, the yellow stain on the interior wall appears to be some kind of varnish/sealer.
Were it not for the trapped swarf, I might never have decided to clean the charge cooler at all.
